HIV and AIDS Policy
INTRODUCTION
TPI recognises the seriousness of the HIV/Aids epidemic and its impact at the workplace. The company supports
national and international efforts to reduce the spread of infections and minimize the impact of the disease.
BACKGROUND
TPI recognises the negative impact on Zimbabwean society that HIV/Aids has had both through infection
and indirectly through loss of breadwinners and skilled employees. TPI accepts its responsiblity to recognise
HIV/Aids as a workplace issue, which has to be urgently and progressively addressed through commitment
of resources and active participation by both management and workers.
OBJECTIVES
- To confirm TPI's commitment to HIV/Aids prevention.
- To protect the rights of those affected by HIV/Aids at the workplace through the creation of safe and
healthy working environment and provision of equitable employee benefits.
- Prevention through information dissemination education and training i.e, educating all employees in as far
as HIV is concerned.
- Care and support for employees and their families facilitate the provision of care and support for the
infected TPI employees and their families.
TPI shall be guided by the following key principles
- recognition of HIV/Aids as a work place issue social dialogue.
- HIV/Aids and workplace relationships, prevention programs and care and support.
